Community Tasting Notes (8) Avg Score: 89.3 points

  • APPEARANCE: Deep golden colour.
NOSE: Very muted initially and for a long time. After an hour or so it started releasing some yellow fruits and seawater notes. (82p)
TASTE: Soft arrival, medium rich body, then quite a lot of acidity and some almost ripe yellow fruit. Not entirely balanced in my opinion but quite pleasant to drink, although it is so rounded its really difficult to tell that it is a Chablis or a mature Chablis at that. It’s good though, in its own way. It’s like I can feel that there’s a good (not great) wine hiding in there somewhere but it’s muted and wrapped up... (84p)
TOTAL SCORE: 83 points, for now (I have left some in an airtight bottle, will see tomorrow if it has opened up more).

    10.03.2018 Update:
NOSE: On day 2 the nose has finally opened up. It has become very lemon-citrus fruity, with a lot of minerality. The sea water is still there in the background, but fresher than yesterday. Up 4 points (86p).
TASTE: Also the taste has changed, quite dramatically. Yesterday’s ripe yellow fruit has morphed into young, fresh lemon and lime juice, with a long delicious aftertaste. In the middle of all this really lovely lemon and lime juice I do find that, except for in the aftertaste, it’s a bit unbalanced, short on backbone or “something” to counter the young, fresh acidity. Although the only thing I can think about missing is some more ripe fruitiness, aka mellowness or even sweetness. But it is a totally different wine today and it has changed for the better. Up 2 points (86p)
    REVISED TOTAL SCORE: 86 points.

Drinking advice: Drink up, but give it long airing time first, even over night!

  • Golden colour.
Nose: Seawater and mussels. No minerality, mainly wet sea smell (80p).
Taste: Mature, rich, quite a bit of rounded lemon, some mimerality and some freshness (85p)
This bottle was very mature, even seemed well past it's peak, but at least it was drinkable. And finally a mature bottle of Duplessis from the early 2000s which wasn't obviously oxidised! Total score 84 points.

  • Wow! This had everything going on. Beautiful nose; sweet yellow fruit, limestone, apricot. Fantastic mouthfeel. Abundant fruit, broad spectrum body, loads of minerals and a hint of smoke. Long and compact, never ending, just great.
Conservatively rated at 94. Just love it. Drink now!

  • Medium deep golden.
Nose: Initially a bit closed, gradually letting out spring flowers, orange like citrus notes, some smoke and minerals.
Taste & palate: Seems a bit short on fruit, richer in acidity and minerality. Past it's peak or just in desperate need of air? We might find out in a few hours...

  • Wonderfully complex, toast, limestone and citric fruit. Complex and balanced. Long tail. Last bottle oxidized, this one perfect.
