  • Mineral, citrus nose. Some rubber. Palate is very dry, high acid, lean, steely, a bit tough. Citrus, grapefruit, mineral, stone, crushed rocks.
I think some residual sugar on this could work well.

  • Clear pale lemon with slight watery green fluctuation towards the rim. Legs slow and quite thick though well defined and shapely.
On the nose, pithy lemon, yellow grapefruit, under ripe apricot and unripe yellow plum. Hints of herbs, lemon thyme/balm, with a touch of new lylo and some mineral salts.
Similar palate, lemon pith and under ripe stone fruit, crisp acidity, taut quartzy/steeliness. Lingering honeysuckle on the mid palate going into the finish with a decent length. I found this to be quite dry, res sugar in the '13 I'm guessing sub 8g/l and plenty of acidity there.
This is very much an easy going, versatile style of riesling, great with oily white fish, smoked salmon, caesar salads, bbq food, certain cheeses or just on it's own. Very good value for money
Bought a case of this back in Jan of '15 and have gone through 10 of the 12 by end of April. I have found this to be a very reliable party, house and bbq wine.
It has evolved during the last 4 months, with the stone fruits ripening up somewhat and the lemon starting to play a more supporting role, rather than being the opening batsman, as was the case in Jan. Drink and enjoy over the next 12 months

  • Honey, lime. banana. For a basic Qba trocken this is really good. Can't get exited about it though, but that's more when comparing to the other Leitz bottles on offer tonight.
