Opened at 12pm - Decanted at 4pm (there was a lot of sediment) back in the bottle at 6 and brought to dinner. Giving up loads of sweet fruit with enough framework to show great in a modern style.

Originally popped and poured and showed a bit tight. Decanted for four hours and it really blossomed. Becoming quite tertiary at the moment. Shows a mature nose of macerated cherries and figs with earthy notes of balsam wood, oak, candied plums and orange rind. Fantastic mouthfeel - full, deep and very satisfying. In a beautiful place but let it breathe for a long time.
Brought to a very high end party and many thought best of 14 other wines. I did like these last bottles the best of the case I bought 18 years ago. The wine is a little past it’s prime drinking window, but with a four hour decant and having aged, ot settled nicely Well structured, some pleasant spice, but no heat Excellent long finish.

(Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino) Black red color; tight but intriguing oak nose; very tight, reticent, cherry and dried cherry palate, should age well; medium-plus finish 90+ pts.

Discounted for six hours. Drinking beautifully. Not going to get any better but certainly in a sweet spot right now.
