  • 2013 at top level continues to drink fabulously, and Mugnier’s Fuées, a magical vineyard and essentially a southern extension of Bonnes Mares, is stunning today on pnp (although last sips were the best) wafting layers of sweet strawberry-rhubarb, sous bois, rose petals, game and smoky minerals. It’s liquid velvet in the mouth with an energetic spine of cool minerality and balanced acids adding freshness and focus to its delivery. It’s simply a beguiling combination of power and elegance and a superb expression of the vintage.

  • Not a great showing, very volatile and nervous. Hard to read. Maybe if we had given more time it would have come around ?

  • The one with Frederic Mugnier (Les Amis): Mugnier dinner at Les Amis with Frederic Mugnier

FM remarked that 2013 was a difficult vintage for them but was very proud of this wine

Hands down the best bouquet of the night! Seductive dark fruit, spices, dark cherries, violets with tinges of sage and earthy tones. Palate showed lovely purity of fruit but was pretty tight and not quite matching up to the expressiveness and the level of seductiveness of the nose. After some 30-45mins in glass, bouquet started showing some VA but palate amped up and started showing better concentration with florals, spices and dark maraschino cherries arriving at the fore. Good structure with a lengthy finish that should get much better with time.

  • I’m loving how the vintage is drinking, especially so from the top producers. Rousseau and Mugnier being my favorites. The 2013 Fuées is loaded with spice and violets and has such lovely purity of fruit that’s backed by a vibrant line of focused acidity and a cool mineral infusion. Excellent.

  • PnP'ed. Pretty scents from the get-go - panoply of violets, smoke, blackberries & bits of earth. The '13s must be generally in a good place (a recent '13 Bruno Clair Cazetiers was most tasty as well). Medium-bodied with a satiny texture, it had nice purity & concentration at the same time, gliding across the palate effortlessly culminating in a lengthy finish. Beautiful wine that will improve as it gains more complexity with cellar age. My 2nd WOTN after the '02 Roumier Cras.
