  • Agree with BADMONKEY's review ... Could have fooled me that this was a 'tough' vintage. I had to double-check to make sure I hadn't pulled the 2012, and fortunately, I didn't. Will be on the lookout for more of this.

  • @ Bluewater with Rob

    Deep dark purple. Full bodied
Some light oak. Hay. Slate. Wet wool.
Dry. Good acidity and tannin. Long finish. Dark fruits.
Really well structured wine. Great balance. Lots of tension.
Will be good for years to come but drinking great now.

  • I found this in the secondary market at a really good price so I decided to give it a shot despite the difficult vintage. A pleasant surprise. Dark red fruit with a touch of black - dark cherry, dark raspberry, currants, and a little plum. Smooth mid-palate with nice depth but not quite as deep as the 2012 and 2013 vintages. No green notes as I've frequently encountered with the vintage. Fairly long finish. Decanted for one hour and drank over another three. Improved some with time but at a nice drinking point after the decant. Probably the best 2011 cab that I've had.

  • My gosh this is good. Strong nose comprising of new oak, flowers, black cherries, cassis, the nose is similar to the Schrader LPV I had couple weeks ago. On the palate, this is expansive. It covers all your senses and has good weight. You just want to eat this wine. It's so damn good. The tannins grip your palate but integrate very nicely. The finish lingers for 60 seconds. Every burp you taste the flavors and it makes you want to take another sip.

You have to let this air out. Upon Pnp, this was like a 90pt wine for me. It tasted a bit thin and mono. But after 3-4 hours in the decanter, boom... it just kept growing on me. This is definitely a must try wine. The power of the grapes from Beckstoffer to Kalon vineyard. I am now a believer.

You know a wine is good if you can't seem to stop drinking it. I finished the whole bottle in one sitting.

  • Winebow Tasting with Kyle Janzen (Farmhouse Evanston): Janzen's own vineyard. From the B Block of To-Kalon.
So awesome. Massive but restrained lather, cassis, fig, anise, earth meta. Super long long finish.
So royal with that slightly ripe yet also reductive quality of plum and dark cherries. Fantastic.
