Medium/deep ruby core, medium pale garnet rim. A touch closed on the nose, but showing some dark berry fruit, smoke, earth, a slight green edge and a hint of the farm. The palate is medium plus bodied with attractive dark, earthy fruit with notes of liquorice, the tannins are a touch rustic but there is nice fresh acidity and an attractive burly savouriness to this. A good honest village NSG, out-performing my (modest) expectations given the vintage. Good +, drinking well now, no particular hurry.

good to start with but a somewhat astringent finish was something of a letdown
