  • At MB and PK’s engagement party, SF.

This is the Feinherb bottling. 15g/L RS, 10% Alcohol.

Clear, day-bright, light concentration pale straw with reflections of yellow green. Slight hint of gas, no sediment. Diminished tearing.

On the nose, some definite aromatic lift - this is an elevated intensity nose. Correct lime, pool-toy/petrol/TDN. Ripe lemony character and tart green apple. I’m not picking up any botrytis. Youthful and straightforward.

Light residual sugar, off-dry (apparently 15g). Some frizzante. Light to medium bodied, low alcohol, solidly high acidity. Fruit character is tart and ripe, with lean green apple. Crisply balanced with good fruit character - you don’t get the apple jolly rancher that I did in the ’13 Allimant-Laugner Riesling from Alsace. Clean moderately long finish with strong acidity and some ripe citrus.

    Score: Around 8.5. Good typicity.

  • Reserving judgment. A fan of their wines but this was fuzzy on the palate, disjointed nose, and lacking refreshing spark I expect from them. Revisit again in time to see what's happened.

  • Smooth and really pretty aromas. Tart but balanced. Lovely fruit on palate entry with rich creamy coating notions. Quite pretty with some grassy notes. Rich lemon on the finish with sweet coating fruit. Lovely. 90+

  • This is in the good not great column. Where the Spätlese and Kabinett had blazing slate and citrus perceptions, this came across more like grapefruit juice, in a flat naringin sort of way. Generic and pedestrian to me.
