13,5% Certainly not out of business, looks as dense and purple as a much younger wine. From the website: "Crognolo, the first wine of Tenuta Sette Ponti. Born in 1998 from the wine project of the Moretti Cuseri family. An elegant Sangiovesebased supertuscan, endowed with a unique identity: between enhancement of territory and vines, excellence, rigor and innovation made from a tradition capable of evolving. The best selection of a historic variety of Sangiovese from a unique clone found in the Vigna dell’Impero 1935 and multiplied in the estate’s Sangiovese vineyards. A small addition of Merlot to give roundness and complexity." It is good, but in no way mind blowing. Drink with a pizza or simple pasta. Overrated at € 29.

Arrivé dans une belle zone de buvabilité si je puis dire. Evolué avec un début d'arômes tertiaires mais encore bien sur les fruits (noirs). C'est concentré, large et assez long en bouche.

In its 9th year, like a late-blooming adolescent, this Italian is finally becoming comfortable in its own skin. Previously harsh, discordant acidic notes are now refined into dark fruit harmonies. Even the nose has matured from the raucous barnyard into a refined, if understated, grassy meadow. I'm excited to see where she goes next.

(Tenuta Sette Ponti Crognolo Toscana IGT) Very dark ruby color; tart roasted black fruit, tar, roast coffee nose; tasty, tart roasted black fruit, tar palate with near medium acidity; could use 1-2 years; medium-plus finish
