  • Second bottle from case. In terms of drinkability this is simply amazing with good fruit concentration despite only 12.5% alcohol and no signs of sweetness whatsoever. There are not many reds today where an attribute like fresh or refreshing would not seem misplaced. A wine you could open many subsequent days in a row without getting tired of it.

  • A wine from a reputable Pomerol estate, in what Bordeaux these days likes to call a "classic" vintage, with no CT rating and the only professional critic rating being a 72-74 (how could that taste?) from Parker during en primeur in 1995, not only raises my curiosity but almost puts me into a state of joyful anticipation. Pnp at home with steak. Perfect bottle from fresh OWC with in neck fill and a cork only soaked at the very end. Garnet with clear browning towards a thin translucent rim. Animal notes on the nose largely blow off after a few minutes. Sous bois, dry dark fruit, medium (-) tannins only appear as the fruit fades a bit around the 1h mark, replaced by tobacco and leather. Around 89-90 on its own but simply perfect match with food. Classic claret at its best. If you have one of the few remaining bottles, drink now with food and no decant.

  • Good not great. Slight soapy taint in the nose. Much much better with food than on its own. Still tannic, but not at all unpleasantly so.

  • No formal notes. Delicious wine; full bodied, round, supple and friendly. In fact already a real pleasure and showing good complexity.
