  • Initially a shock when I tried to pair it with prosciutto crudo as one would with a traditional barbera. Much too rich and extracted for this. Instead, put it aside to revisit at the end of the meal, where it showed extremely well. The nose is dark cherry and licorice. Maybe also violets. The mid palate is very rich and heavily extracted, but the finish pulls it together again with good structure from the tannins and some moderate acidity. Style reminds me of an amarone, but with better focus and delineation.

  • dark purple, floral notes on the nose. High acid behind sweet dark fruit flavors, made a good complement to tomato/mushroom pasta

Deep, dark purple. On nose, very intense and persistent, dominated by licorice, mint and other balsamic notes; but still very fruity and floral (roses, violets). On palate, also very intense and persistent, with sweet fruit flavours and vanilla oak; high acidity, very high alcohol (15%), high/smooth tannin. Heavy and extreme concentration, too rich and thick. It takes a while, but after the shock wears off, it's not too bad.
