Casillero del Diablo was one of my go to budget wines when I was in Chile and it's good to see it in Australia. Under screw cap and labeled as Shiraz to make things easy for us. Keep in mind this is a cooler climate style despite being labeled Shiraz. Obviously the price is higher than it was in Chile but still great value.

Lively purple / cherry colour; open and attractive nose, ripe black fruit, notes of flowers, chocolate and black pepper, hint of toasty oak, nice freshness, lovely typicity; the palate is vibrant and fresh but still a bit tight, medium body, youthful but ripe tannins, marinated cherries; complete finish, good length. Yet another very well made Concha y Toro wine, not subtle but flavoursome and quite a steal for € 6.69.

Not bad, relatively mature now and at the end of its drinking window, but the fruit has held up nicely and combines well with the peppery spices.

Dark ripe fruit with a good finish. Medium tannins which matched well with a roast turkey dinner.
