A night of bretty Beaujolais, I'm afraid. This was not nearly as affected as the 2009 Bouland and was certainly gamy but still enjoyable for its light, tart, earthy, strawberry/cherry fruit. Not a highlight reel Descombes wine.

Light ruby to the rim. A touch of carbonic scents, but mostly briary black fruit. Light, herbal, earthy black fruit and crackling cranberry acidity at the end. Brisk, tangy, tart Gamay. I'm not sure that it has gained that much from aging, but it has certainly admirably stood the test of time.

Not sure this is that great of a vintage for Morgon - I tend to prefer slightly riper years I suppose (YMMV). A bit reminiscent of a cool vintage Oregon pinot.

Not the most seriously structured Morgon out there but not the most carefree either. Quite dark toned on the nose with cherry-laden fruit, dust and minerality. On the palate light-to-medium bodied and not particularly tannic but with good grip and pleasant tartness on the finish. Plenty of lively, savory dark fruit, though gets a bit thin in the end. Perfectly nice stuff but for some reason I find myself craving for Lapalu right now.
