This medium-bodied wine is round, balanced and pleasant on the palate at the moment. It is displaying alluring notes of ripe berries, wet dead leaves, wet earth and smoke. While somewhat lacking fruit, this is quite capturing right now.

Still looks young visually, with an opaque centre and some slight bricking at the edge. Nose shows some dried leaves and forest floor along with bright red fruits. The palate is showing some integration as red fruits are supported by healthy but not excessive acidity. There is some tannic grip on the medium length finish. 12.5% alcohol keeps it light and vibrant. While this was a challenging vintage, this wine lives up to what a Beaune 1er Cru should be. Start to enjoy it now or age 2-4+ years for additional maturity.

A bit earthy, green, and tannic on PnP. Still pleasant but definitely wasn't performing at a 1er Cru level. After 45 mins of air, really shifted into a lovely red fruit phase with little hints of forest and mushroom, and the tannins mellowed (still there, though). We all really enjoyed this and appreciated the bottle age, but possibly could have used more time. I also think this maybe is a little stemmy and is never really going to get "there". Nice, but this is a value 1er Cote de Beaune rather than one to cherish.

Earthy, wet dirt, light, tannic, ruby colored. Decanted for an hour which helped bring out some fruitiness.

Bouchard Père et Fils Tasting with Frédéric Weber (Knightsbridge - Northbrook IL): Tasting, brief note. Red and black cherry with faint spice, lots of firm structure, resulting in a backward character, slightly too assertive for the level of fruit.
