  • Light purple in color with aromas of cedar, smoke, and blackberry jam on the nose. On the palate, it's immediately soft and jammy, but grips in the mid palate. The flavors are, again, blackberry jam and cedar upfront, with some vanilla and an earthiness (I'm not sure if "tar" is the right descriptor since I've never tasted it, but I'm guessing that this probably qualifies as "tarry"). There's a spiciness in the finish, which is relatively short. And fresh flowers. Cool.

Outstanding wine and a very interesting experience enjoying this bottle. I confess that my expectations for a Virginia wine (and a Cab Franc to boot) were not terribly high, but I am delighted to be proven wrong. For $12, this is a steal. Great QPR! (90+)
