Another year has gone by and, if anything, this wine has just gotten better. I think this wine has at least five more years in it, it’s still improving.
Probably the best QPR Barolo I’ve ever come across.

I first wrote a note about this wine nearly six years ago. Just opened another bottle, and after a bit of time to open up, it’s at least as good as it was half a decade ago. Not going to leave a bunch of details (sorry) but this is one of the best QPR wines I have ever come across.

This was very, very tight and tart on opening. Tart red cherries with a mix of spice, earth and leather in the background. Everything was muted and indistinct. Pinot noir texture and mouthfeel but with too much acidity and too many sharp edges. Not unpleasant, but too tight to really enjoy. Will give it lots and lots of airtime next time. If it opens, it will probably be a 90+ wine.

This has nicely developed some secondary characteristics of earth, mushroom, and herbs. Very nice, and the price was excellent.

Surpassed modest expectations, J surprisingly liked as well.
