A semi-transparent, medium garnet Chianti with medium legs looks inviting. It has a nose of bright fruit and wet earth. On the palate, it is smooth, earthy, and bone dry with notes of wet gravel and soil. The finish is earthy with a hint of smoke.
Pair it with food from its homeland. It brings out the tang of tomatoes and the richness of a good meatball.

N: Fairly fragrant cherries atop earth with spicy undertones
P: LM, poss Med, body; Reasonable frt on front quickly met by acidity; LONG, very slightly astringent finish. Has improved in ways for which I was only hoping [cf. my note of 10/7/2015], & should continue to drink nicely into (early?) Fall '18 with "standard" Italianesque fare: e.g., pizza, pasta with tomato sauce, etc. 90 pts WE & their #61/Top 100 "Best Buys" for '15 @ $15, & 90 RJonWine. [Purchased (& cellared) on a COSTCO $7.99 "special", early Aug 2018's wine-searcher still shows a source @ $10.99.]

Slight barnyard smell at first. Medium body quickly falling away to an empty ending. Low alcohol. Drinkable, but definitely wouldn't spend my own money on it.

Had only a sip but the impression was of woody cherries with nice acidity and (at least for now) pretty dominant, unintegrated oak notes.
