This was a birthday gift and I was very excited to try a bottle from this winery. Nose was not particularly expressive but showed some ripe Pinot characteristics. On the palate, a little oak char note to go along with ripe and plummy fruit. Kind of a fleshy, unfiltered mouthfeel to it. It was, thankfully, savory and not candied and had plenty of depth with some balancing acidity. A bit in the overripe category for me, but a very enjoyable and interesting Pinot.

2010 WINDWARD VINEYARD ‘MOMOPOLE” PASO ROBLES PINOT NOIR- from a producer who has proven that an appellation known for more warm climate wines can hang with the big boys, Marc has achieved some acceptances from his relatively cool microclimate vineyard which the name “windward” suggests; this wine had a very different nose than the other 8 giving off some mint chocolate, spicy wild strawberry; the taste had more tame strawberry and red cherry/ berry notes; it felt good and held on for a grand climax; quite good

beautiful nose (red fruits and baking spices), light and elegant - more complex than would think for the region
