I've been opening my bottles of this wine at gatherings for non wine geeks. This showed like the last bottle, which I brought to Sag Harbor a few weekends ago: plummy, oaky, soft, murky, lacking definition. I did not care for it, but naturally, it was a hit with the guys in Sag Harbor and with our Hurricane guests. With Abbie, Rich and the Tobiases, 3rd night of Hurricane Sandy.

Slight browning at the rim. The palate is dark in profile, more dark fruits than Nebbiolo red, seemingly marked by oak, with some pine notes and soft tannins from time in the cellar. The palate is somewhat amorphous and murky, although I think the time in the cellar has resulted in some palate integration. Still, it could use more definition and the red fruit is obscured by the dark palate, and there are few high notes. Good, but not great. My intention is to bring my remaining bottles to parties. With a NY Strip on the grill, the culmination of a fun weekend that included Springsteen.

great bouquet of sweet milk chocolate and earth, with some anise and smoke. still had a bit of upfront tannin attack left. smoke and chocolate comes through in the flavor, with some cherry notes in the background. very nice.

Fairly rich with cherry, tar, but a medicinal finish which detracts.
