Pop and pour. In the glass, medium pink-magenta at the rim, shading to opaque dark magenta at the core. On the nose, a muted mixture of cherries and oak. On the palate, initially quite astringent, but 30-45 minutes of air relieved most of that, leaving a lean, tense blend of cherry, raspberry, clove, and nutmeg. The balance of tension and silky fruit that characterizes many of the Lato PNs seemed to have gone too far towards tension with this bottle, at least for my preferences.

Beautiful new world pinot. Everything the Cal folks love about Pinot. Very reminiscent of the finer David Bruce estate and santa rita Pinots I have had. More modern and more refined. Great for a cocktail, at the same time great with dinner.
