  • Prior bottle was just over a year ago and this wine continues to evolve positively. Black cherry and plum along with earth, spices and light leather notes on the nose. A bit above medium bodied and was accessible upon opening (not anywhere near as tight initially as prior bottles) and by three hours in was in a great spot. Rounded black cherry with a few red cherry highlights upfront. Darker black cherry as well as some plum and brighter blackberry through the middle. Mid-body shows more elegance and balance as compared to my prior bottles. Backside has tart cherry (red and black), along with acidity and fine grained tannins for structural support with minerals, earth and spice notes through the finish. Overall fruit profile remains quite similar to my prior bottle, but the mid-body has opened up, wine shows better integration and the transition from mid-body to finish was cleaner. Should continue to evolve along these lines and I'll plan to open my next bottle in Fall 2024.

  • This was definitely superior to the two previous bottles. I decanted and filtered this bottle, but found no significant solids. It tasted of some dark and sour cherries with an earthy element as well. I thought we were drinking an a excellent bottle of Brunello and the price point of an excellent Chianti.

  • Excellent meal companion (in our case grilled lamb loin chops). Very tasty with a lovely enticing nose. Nice fruit. Very fine mouthfeel and cleanliness in the mouth. Not a typically big wine for the vintage.

  • Wow, this is delicious after 3 decanter hours. Loads of dried red fruits (cherry, raspberry, strawberry)...just what I love in my BdMs. And a few tertiary flavors of leather and tobacco. Great acidity and still drying tannins. There is some heat noticeable on the back end, but it's pretty well balanced by everything else. This is very good now, but could improve some with another 2-3 years.

  • Prior bottle was just over a year ago and the wine has improved almost exactly along the lines I'd hoped. Black cherry and plum along with earth and light spice notes on the nose. Between medium and full bodied and still needs 3+ hours open to show it's best. When first opened, it was quite tight and not particularly well balanced. But after 3 hours, it showed quite expressive and rounded black cherry upfront, followed by darker black cherry and blackberry through the middle. The elegance of the mid-body was more noticeable than in my prior bottle. Red cherry highlights provide some contrast while acidity and tannins provide the structure while remaining in balance with the fruit. Finishes with earth, spices and mineral notes. Overall, this wine has come together well with good fruit and structure and most importantly, balance between the two. Should continue to improve along these lines and given how much time it needed open, still has room to develop positively. Next bottle for me in Fall 2023.
