92-93; Much darker than the '13 Raveneau Forets, a bit more earth driven, great with shrooms risotto; brusied yellow peach, chalk, honey; nice rich slightly oily mouthfeel but not a show-stopper. 92+ EWG retrospective tasting dinner at Conrad's

Decanted 3 hours in advance. Dull yellow. Iodine and the aromatic fruit profile of riper Chablis years, that is, more red apple and pear than citrus. This became more floral over time. Full, glycerine texture with an excellent soil base. The palate leans more toward the fruit than the savory, mineral elements of the really classic years and shows sound if not exciting acidity. I pulled and opened this bottle because of a recent note from an experienced taster that suggested that it was neutral and uninteresting at this point. This was far better than that yet short of the best that Dauvissat Clos can offer in terms of both power and focus. It does seem to be on the verge of full maturity, which is years ahead of the usual aging curve for this cuvée. In short, an excellent wine that surpasses most 2013 Chablis but is only middling in the context of other vintages of Vincent Dauvissat's Clos. This is a difficult, inconsistent vintage for Chablis.
