This estate removed a part of an olive grove to plant this vineyard (hence the name). 2010 was an excellent Brunello vintage. Opened but not decanted 1 hour before drinking. Blackish red color. An old world earthy Brunello with licorice, blueberry, black olive and leather notes.the tannins were integrated and this had a round finish. Even better on day 2. 93 points

Unfortunately, my final bottle wasn't showing anywhere near as well as previous reviewers' examples. It's not a storage issue - my bottle has been in proper conditions since purchase on release, and the cork was pristine. I decanted briefly, and poured a small glass to sip pre-dinner - and after the first few sips, wondered if I might pour the rest of it down the drain. It wasn't corked - just flat, with no fruit, no secondary notes, nothing really but an odd unpleasant bitter note that carried through a lengthy finish. It got a bit better over the course of dinner, like enough where I wasn't going to just pour it out, but it never quite turned the corner from "drinkable" to "enjoyable." I'll put it down to bottle variation or something. I hope yours are doing better ...

Beautiful so smooth tannins crept in at the end and add a great finish painted so well with grilled veal chop
