A typical wine of the region. Medium color, indicative sangiovese nose, high acidity, zippy flavors. A great pizza wine but not much more. Well priced.

This time this felt even lighter - perhaps this bottle was just more advanced than the rest. The corks on these are really short composite ones, you never normally see these on any decent bottles. Still good but lacking a bit energy.

We stayed at the Castello and loved it. This is a nice chianti classico that is ready for drinking now and in the next year or two. Garnet color, but developing brick red edges. Aromas of cherry, strawberry, earth, and a hint of oak. Very smooth tannins. Acidity is medium light, body medium light, too.

Again getting a bit too mellow for my taste (see previous notes). Time to move on to newer vintages of this.

Aromatic and classic, not too complex but totally lovable, rustic, medium-bodied, bittersweet Chianti. Must buy more.
