This is fairly early in its drinking window and needs a few more years to develop complexity, but the bones here are really good. The nose is deep and powerful with peach and a bit of lactic richness. On the palate this is fairly dry with excellent acidity and stone fruit, and there are the first notes of that lightly caramelized richness this wine develops with age. In 3-5 years this should be hitting its stride, although it’s an excellent wine in its current state.

Tulip color. Guava and apple. Middle weight, some glycerine. Off dry, quite earthy, excellent acidity. Bitter citrus, a touch of tropical fruit, good tart acidity, and a long soil finish. This has fleshed out nicely over the last 6 years and is really very good now.

Wine Club Holiday Party 2022: Very clear, fanning out to a light rich gold at the rim. Nose gives away candle wax and petrol. Lovely mouthfeel and texture that coats the tongue. There is a richness to this wine without being heavy. Mix of tropical fruit (passion, guava, pineapple) and citrus, leaning more toward the former. Lovely stuff.

Similar notes to last time although for some reason this time I just seemed to enjoy it more. Lots of peach, slight lychee, touch of sweet spice. Not as transcendent as the superb 2010 I had a while ago but still a very clean and enjoyable Alsace. Score: 93. Relative to expectations : ++
