This bottle of 2019 Domaine Weinbach Riesling Schlossberg Cuvee Sainte Catherine, paired with lightly spiced curry and obtained direct at the winery, was singing and brought back fond memories of the gracious hosting by the Faller family at our visit earlier in the year. Still a bit of a nervy teen and deserving of more time in the cellar, it still delivered high tension of lemon, apple spritz, beeswax, tropical fruit, and a long finish of waves of melon and guava. Better in another few years but drinking well with some air, the dry crystalline nature seems more similar to bottles of Keller GGs (‘13 Hubacker GG) and less to its Alsation cousin Trimbach’s Clos St Huhne (‘15) we have had recently. 94+/100 with upside.

Pale lemon colour. Medium (+) and developing nose with yellow apples, pear, peach, apricot, lychee, melon, lemon, slate, rubber and wet stone. Pronounced taste of yellow apples, pear, lemon, peach, apricot, lychee, lemon, rubber and wet stone. Long and off-dry finish. High acidity. Medium body. A very good Alsace Riesling Grand Cru. Drink now or over the next five years. Goes well with fish or sushi.

Slightly green or edgy finih right after opening the bottle. Much better after 1 hour of air and then it changes more into butterscotch
Very pretty with salt and good length.
It would benefit from some additional years in the cellar.

Delicious but hold. Great balance but needs time to develop.
