ESTG does Cornas and St. Joseph (Newcastle, WA): So fascinating, my second time having one of these. Very aged, very savory, none of the normal Viognier fireworks, more of a natural wine funk, quite mineral. I re-read my old note on a 1999 I had many years ago, and I said that one reminded me a bit of Chave Blanc, and I think that is an interesting comparison upon reflection with this vintage as well.

From its appearance, you would expect a young wine, but the very fragrant bouquet gives away its age. A delightful bouquet of butter, toats, nuttiness, honey and a hint of vanilla from the new oak. (I would not recognize this as viognier) On the palate, an elegant, gracious wine that is full bodied has medium acidity and medium to high alcohol. Overall well balanced from France's smallest appellation (did not know that) with a long finish. I enjoyed this.

Flawed. Bad cork - oxidized. Fifth bottle of '04 over past six years. Every previous bottle perfect, and a wine that lived up to its reputation. Proof that wine is a living thing and sometimes nature wins.

Always wanted to try this. I bought 2 bottles. Honey, wax and melon. Rich taste. I am really liking this . I love Rhone whites and this is a winner. It has aged well
