Decanted for 1 hour. Still very much dominated by tannic hardwood. Leaving it open for an extended period improved things, but not substantially until day 2.
Day 2: fruit surprisngly came to the foreground with tannins playing a more supportibg role. Bright red fruit with pleasantly sour stone fruit on the fringes. Retained complexity on the palate even though itvwas very muted on the nose.
If this improves it will be in 5 to 10 more years. It has the stuffiing to survive so stated drinking window 2021 to 2040 is not ridiculous for this Volnay 1er Cru.

Medium ruby color. Some citrus in bouquet. Bright and fresh red fruit, some leather and spice, and plenty of acidity. Beginning to show some complexity. Good for this producer and a decent value.

Burgundy Dinner with the Chevaliers du Tastevin (The Old Inn On The Green, New Marlborough, MA.): [Opened at 4:30pm. Served about 6:40pm.] Nose of black and red fruit with some licorice and spice. Young. Lots of fruit. Still somewhat tannic. Too young. Needed a long decant. 92-94.

Bright cherry fruited Volnay. Palate is silky, very expressive. Vendor notes fresh fennel. To me bright cherry. Racy on the back. Delicious.
