First impressions are very positive. There is plenty of dark fruit, blueberry gastrique with sweet plug tobacco. Some slow-roasted tomato follows with a touch of cedar, cinnamon & a wisp of green pepper. The palate has some nice, fresher, fruit notes of tart plums, cherry and mint. Plenty of earth and good acidity. The wine can definitely take some more time in the bottle.

Retailer tasting. This light- to medium-bodied wine was pretty and easy, with nice berry fruit, some oak and vanilla. It had average complexity, a good, creamy mouthfeel and good length, but seemed a little thin and lacked concentration. A wine for drinking young, now and over the next few years. Seems pricey in this context.

Bigger and more tannic than most right bank wines. This needs a little more time in the bottle.

2017 Grands Crus Classes of St. Emilion, nose of dark fruit, same on the palate, soft, simple, tasty, medium finish.
