Well. Last time, I thought this was “getting old,” and I was disappointed. So I hesitated when reaching for a rose. But we broke it out tonight. Again, dark pink, darker than a lot of roses. Nice nose, red fruit, and some spices and citrus. The palate is bold, quite pleasant, almost big. I’m getting apples, figs, some tart cherries, and again a hint of lemon. Long finish for a rose. We have some 2019’s in the cellar that just came, glad I bought them. We’ll see...

Perhaps this is getting old. Or perhaps it is just not as good as I remember. Theme this week was New World Rose, and this did not show well. Darker color than most, a bit of orange. Nose was ok, decent fruit, some citrus. Palate was a bit flabby. Shorter finish. Actually got a bit better with some air, and as it warmed up a bit. But as we tasted other, fresher and much more fun roses, this paled by comparison.

Blinds (Chicago, IL): What a heinous wine. Smells like cranapple juice (yes, not even proper cranberry juice, but rather that crap that is cut with apple juice to make it cheap). The palate is vapid with zero complexity. Simple and ditzy, and downright terrible.

Needs a little time to open up. Bonedry, but very expressive.
