A 'lost cellar' wine. This wine surfaced during a cellar tidy-up and is a very nice example of this vineyard in the hands of the Lambrays team who seemed to have real problems with premox at this time. The colour is a correct green gold with a delicious nose of white peach, poached pears and white flowers with that honeysuckle lift I often associate with Folatieres. the palate has good weight and a core of lovely fruit balanced by honey and hazelnuts that have come with ageing. Overall it is quite tender and perhaps lacking a little drive but it has all the characters that should be seen in 18 year old white Burgundy.

Well I'll be. It's still alive albeit it's lost some verve and is not PC level. Nose of somewhat overripe apple, mineral, high pitched tones .. simple. Body is somewhat flat without great punch, but alive with a decent minerality and enough acid to be alive. Again, the ripe apple/cinnamon tones that I'd not expect in a Puligny. As in early stage oxidation? Pleasant, drinkable, perfectly nice $15/wine. White Burgundy remains a disaster.

Raiding City Winery (Chicago, IL): This was teetering on the edge of oxidation, but 30 minutes in, it completely fell apart. Premoxed.

Definitely, totally and completely oxidized. This should have been a good bottle.
