Very ripe and pure fruit. Perfectly balanced and focused, with original nebiolo tar and rose flavors, but boldness and ripeness of california fruit. Less acidity than the original, but with flare of its own. Medium to long length and pleasant finish. Excellent wine.

This deep red/garnet wine offers aromas and flavors of ripe black cherries, smoke, clove and coriander. Full-bodied, fresh, seamlessly alcoholic (14.8%) and with plentiful fine-grained tannins, it is very smooth-textured and has beautifully integrated oak. Gaining traction on the mid-palate and closing with impressive length, this is a quality wine that has the structure to last a long time. Given its soft textures and harmonious oak, I feel that Altamura's late release of these offerings is very wise. Drink now-2030.

Napa / Sonoma Day Trip: Tasted at winery. ~100 cases made. PnP, and then re-tasted after ~30 minutes air. In that time this remained closed and tight. This spends 5-6 yrs in barrel, and the result is a fragnant floral wine with leather and dried fruit. This was tight, tart, and tannic and recommended as a food wine. Not a bad wine, but I'd prefer a nice barolo at this price point.

Pop and pour, served at 60 degrees, drank over two nights.
Upside: Thick, smooth, and delicious. The quality is as expected based on previous Altamura cabs I have tasted. Night 1 was better than night 2, but only by a hair.
Downside: A touch on the sweet side, but my understanding is that this is typical for nebbiolo (this was my first). Quality decreased a bit (enhanced sharpness) as the bottle warmed towards room temp.
Overall: Great wine for the price. I have one more bottle on hand, and I'll hold it for a year or more. I'll certainly buy more next time I place an Altamura order.

Better mouth feel than the Italian varietal. Approaching velvety. Similar flavor profile with red fruit and flowers. Also some vanilla. Red color, but darker than most Italian Nebbiolo. Almost like an Italian Nebbiolo with a little bit of Tempranillo. Worked for me.
