  PNP - tartish cherry, cranberry on the nose, opened to a smoky, sousbois, sweetish cherry nose after about five minutes. Palate of sweet cherry, some spice, nice acidity, touch of vanilla, the barest hint of tannin with a nice sweet finish. Very nice bottle. Drank unpaired.

  The wine is popped and dcanted for half a day before drinking. It pours an inky garnet color with the slightest hint of rust. On the nose, the wine exhibits a jammy and floral bouquet of cherries, blueberries, minerals, prunes and mushrooms. The concentration of the nose is quite potent, no less because of the remarkable extraction. On the palate, silky tannins hit the tongue first before the wine glides down the throat with the tinkling heat of the alcohol. Again, fruits dominate the core of the palate with tertiary notes of mint, spice, eucalyptus and potpourri. Finish is rather long, lasting half a minute and dominated by minerals and balanced acidity. Fabulous wine.

  2002 1er Cru Red Burgundy Tasting (Gary's Place, Hudson, WI): Dark red color. PNP, drank 1 glass over 90 minutes. This a focused red raspberry nose, a bit of blueberry, ripe fruit, florals, earth, spice, minerals. The palate was medium in body, red fruits, beautiful, elegant, slightly sweet fruit, mineral, long finish. My #2 and group #3 WOTN. 92+pts.

  Impromptu 02 Pinots at Gary's: PNP. Pleasant earthy funk on nose that blows off with time. Delicious mix of red and blue fruits on palate. Mellow tannins nicely balanced with the acidity. Lovely wine.
