Blind Pinots (Prairie Grass Cafe): Blind. Attractive ripe black cherry and toasted herb. Nice richness and intensity of spice on the palate. Well balanced and complete. Good length in the smoky finish. I was guessing old world.

Wonderfully ripe and ready to drink this wine has really come into its own. Paper filtered and decanted leaving a light dusting of sediment in the filter and yielding a brilliant garnet liquor. Beautiful aromas and flavors of raspberry and cherry dominate this wine with a finish that just wouldn't quit.

Made for a great Thanksgiving. Nice paring with turkey and the fixings. Could have surviced in the bottle for another year or so, but was definitly prime for drinking.

Our host, Bill, regarded this as one of his favourites. Initially I was not so taken but, perhaps unduly influenced, I ended up ranking it quite high. Really nice nose over a dark purple red (seems to be the colour of 2005). Concentrated and quite complex, though I thought perhaps a little green. A long sweet finish however. I came back to it later and it rewarded me more.

I got nothing on the nose whatsoever. Some sweet berries on the palate initially, but it didn't open to much more. At 14.9% the wine was hot and the fruit did not develop under the heat. I found little balance between the two. At $20 it is definitely smoother than a cheaper pinot, but still no real complexity or balance.
