About 3.5 yrs since my last btl. On the nose:.soft oak toast, mild coffee, spice, and a touch of stems. On the palate, very fresh, with great acidity, then coffee, a touch of toast, and attenuated tannin. A nice aged PN, but more Sancerre rouge in style than Burg.

Drank after a 98 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er. Decanted. Very nice. Intense on the nose showing loads of ripe strawberry, and a touch of sandalwood---very fragrant. On the palate, juicy acidity, but distracting bitterness (pithy and ashy at the same time). Angular tannic finish, but it dissipates quickly. I wonder if the bitterness on the palate will change with some age.
Day 2: Drank this after a Grivot Vosne 1er, and I think this showed really well. On the nose, very nice complexity: very similar to yesterday. On the palate, the bitterness I noticed yesterday is still present, but it has receded a bit; maybe more akin to citrus pith today, but leaning in the direction of a version of burnt rubber or some durian ice cream I once had. The bitterness is still pretty distracting, but otherwise this shows pretty well.

Mid garnet; lift on a bright nose, shy fruit; quiet, heightened acidity, starting to dry out. Stretched finish. Drink up.
