Decanted 8 hours. Still very closed and extremely tannic. Not entirely unapproachable tannins but it definitely needs food at this point. Cherries, balsamico, rose, liquorice, iron, tar, earth. Fruit is so plentiful beneath so I an really looking forward to following it. Great Barolo.

2 hour slow ox. dark ruby, with a bit of inference and bricking at the edges. black truffle, tar, crushed red pepper, savory cherry fruit, dried rose, spearmint, and clay on the nose. palate is medium plus bodied, but light and lithe due to the acid. awesome flavor. leans hard into the luxardo cherry and savory dried pork. fruit emerged and softened over a few hours. shows clay with a very well integrated fine tacky tannin on the back. finished long and gently rolls out more of the red pepper flavor on the back. this bottle is certainly still young but well approachable now. will evolve positively. a delicate yet powerful wine that is good example of why this producer demands a premium.

@ Ci Siamo NYC. Opened 4 hours prior to lunch and it was ready. Textbook classic old school Barolo, dusty roses, tar, juicy cherries, fine and grippy tannins but with a lot of finesse. The fruit brightened with airtime and the mouthfeel rounded out to a perfect polish. Paired perfectly with braised lamb. The magician never fails to deliver. Makes me think other 2012s are also ready to go with some air.

A nose of iron, rose petals, mint, ginger and cherry. The palate is tight at first, but gathers sweetness at the core with air. It has fleshy fruit over chewy structure. The finish is quite stony, cool and long. Great purity and balance here.

Opened and decanted. Deep ruby. An aromatic torrent of mostly savory things-tobacco, tar, licorice, and earth. Meaty, brooding, and tannic at first, but it quickly shows a sappy feel, fine acidity, all of the non-fruit items suggested by the nose, rising spice, as well as deep, ripe supporting dark red fruit. This just improved over 2 hours without shutting down. Powerful, outstanding young Barolo poised for a long run. The antithesis to the elegant, fruit driven 2014 Barbaresco we drank yesterday, this was all about the darker, more mysterious side of Nebbiolo. Loved having a chance to drink this.
