  Decanted 8 hours. Still very closed and extremely tannic. Not entirely unapproachable tannins but it definitely needs food at this point. Cherries, balsamico, rose, liquorice, iron, tar, earth. Fruit is so plentiful beneath so I an really looking forward to following it. Great Barolo.

  @ Ci Siamo NYC. Opened 4 hours prior to lunch and it was ready. Textbook classic old school Barolo, dusty roses, tar, juicy cherries, fine and grippy tannins but with a lot of finesse. The fruit brightened with airtime and the mouthfeel rounded out to a perfect polish. Paired perfectly with braised lamb. The magician never fails to deliver. Makes me think other 2012s are also ready to go with some air.

This just improved over 2 hours without shutting down. Powerful, outstanding young Barolo poised for a long run. The antithesis to the elegant, fruit driven 2014 Barbaresco we drank yesterday, this was all about the darker, more mysterious side of Nebbiolo. Loved having a chance to drink this.
