Nickel & Nickel's 2005 Sullenger retains a youthful opaque ruby appearance and an equally youthful bouquet of black currant fruit, accented with tobacco, lavender, savory herbs and baking spices. Full-bodied, freshly acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (14.4%) and with nicely integrated oak and tannins, it delivers flavors mirroring the nose and stays solid on the mid-palate. Finishing with impressive length, this is an outstanding Napa Cabernet that should sail through this decade. It is amusing when reading the pundits' early notes on this wine...they really got it wrong. Drink now-2030.

Getting that tarry leathery flavors indicating this is getting on the downhill slope but still very tannic, just not enough fruit for balance. Drink em while you got em....

Oh, Lordy, this is good. Inky dark. A nose of soft oak and dark fruit. The palette immediately strikes one as a little softer and perhaps more delicate than expected. Oak, cassis, blueberry, spice all wrapped up in a gental cloak of florals. It's youth belies its age. While the tannins are relaxing, there is nary a hint of the woodsy, earthy tone you would expect of a decade-plus old Napa cab. It has years to go, no question. The Community Drink Date ending in 2016 is nuts. A medium finish.

Vibrant, balanced - settled in after 30 minutes on PnP. Good fruit. Still a few years left before it transitions into the next generation of age.
