Two years since my last bottle and another argument in case that even the top 2010s are ready for drinking, and the weaker wines like this one are even approaching the end of their peak drinking window. I recall this being a fairly tannic and chewy wine merely two years ago however now it’s fully resolved. A clear garnet with slight bricking towards the clear rim. Nice earthy notes on the attack but then the mid palate lacks concentration and ends with a short finish. Solid food wine but disappointing for a 2010 (Riserva). Drink up. 88

Almost three years since my last bottle and this has developed nicely. Pnp - perfect cork. Clear garnet in the glass, I love the freshness and acidity here which is nicely integrated and not dominant as Sangiovese sometimes can be. Nice red and dark fruit, the tannins are however fairly prominent and drying now, almost a bit Barolo like, good length. Will wait another 2 years with my next bottle as many of the 2010 BdM Annatas (eg Poggione, Argiano etc) are more ready to drink now than this Riserva. 92-93

So regular dinner meeting where we each something we want to share to dinner tasting with a great friend. PnP and this baby was ready. Red purple light on the edges. Legs were a bit soft. Nose hits with with red fruit leather pepper earthy like someone stomped ripe fruit into tilled earth and seasoned with pepper and other spices and wrapped it in a leather suede jacket nice balance of acid and sweetness really enjoyed went well with rich ribeye mushroom and potatoes au grat And a pepper coated by strip When you hit a Brunello ready to go it is just special this was that. Find it and enjoy right away. Don’t hesitate to drink know and enjoy.

Bought a case at a great price. Pnp. Transparent garnet. Plenty of wood spices on the nose, palate with good delineation and clarity with wood spice, animal notes, red fruit and a touch of vanilla. Integrated tannins. Unlike some of the top tier Brunellos in the 2010 vintage, that have closed down, this is still wide open. Nevertheless the wine will need some more time to integrate the wood spices and find an even better balance. 91+

La Veno di Vino (Volterra, Italy): Very dark and surprisingly muted nose. Cherry and light to medium oak char. Very angular tannins, chewy, and drying at the end. Too young.
