With K at home at dinner. Good medium-dark ruby color. Nice legs. Excellent ripe cherry nose. Hint of cocoa. Very complex. This is nice. On the palate, it is almost as good as the nose. Very fruity and flavorful. Cherry/berry, chocolate fruit. Excellent drinking. 5-13-17-8: 93/100.

With K at home at dinner (coq au vin). Medium-dark ruby. Excellent nose, very complex: cocoa, cherries, berries. On the palate, somewhat austere and slightly bitter in the finish; dusty dry, but with ripe fruit. 5-12-16-7: 90/100.

At the winery with B. Eisert. Color much lighter than the '85, though the nose is similar--berry/cherry. In the mouth, fruit is present, but so are hefty tannins. Quite oaky. 4-11-9-7: 81/100.

Medium garnet with some bricking. Slight scent of leather with a core of red cherries. This wine was way past its prime. Flat and bitter.

Client Luncheon Tasting.
Nose faded, slightly tannic, needs 1 year of age.
