Medium color with a reasonable amount of brick. Dry herb and spice, caramel, jammy red fruit and some oak with lactose and vanilla. Sweet fruit. Very soft palate. Firm dry finish. Mid weight to full bodied. Solid red but lacks balance and intriguing profile.

Purchased as a flyer on sale for near $20 a few years ago, this was a pleasant surprise. Excellent with some air. Everything you want from a ripe, unadulterated Grenache. I'll just reference JOBU's June 2020 TN.
No hurry on this if you've got a good cellar. But it's ready for business now, just try to give it some air and drink over time to let it change.
I see that this is dry farmed bush vines on sandy soil. Yep, that explains the great combination of sappy, deep richness with a purity and "clean" feel.
Paired great with sautéed onion & mushroom, Swiss cheese Beyond Burgers and tater tots. Yes, I did that.
Screwcap, 14.5% abv, but it was well-integrated and I didn't get any heat.

PNP=hot, rubber, menthol, fortified wine on both nose and palate but not syrupy. Quality and balance are there (esp for Aussie grenache!) but overall unpleasant drinking.
Let's see if this becomes pleasant tomorrow. There's much promise!
***day two=softer but no considerable change***
***day three (at 60 degrees)=winner winner. Still indubitably fortified in character but glad I didn't dump this since the harsh elements have lessened significantly while the savory fruit remains and makes for a pleasant glass***

Better with food than on its own. Benefited from a little time in the glass; better on day 2.

Typical mid-level Australian Grenache. Nothing special here but still a decent wine. Fruit still present but not intense, Medium acidity.
