Just drank the only bottle in my cellar. It was a revelation. Deep, dark purple, mouth-staining stuff with heavy leather and smoked meat like a Cornas. Tannins still a little grippy at first sip, smoothed out in the glass. Black fruit still there but subdued, yet hanging in the mouth long. Pretty amazing for a New World syrah, and especially for its age.

Pop and pour. Wow. This is lovely right now. On the nose: loads of cracked pepper, olive brine, black raspberry. On the palate: good acidity, lovely density. Soft tannin on the finish. Late primary with lots of gas in the tank.

Medium ruby. Expressive aromas of cracked black pepper, blackberry and purple flowers. Intense fruit and acidity on the attack - the way I like it - leading into a savory, smoky and mineral-tinged mid-palate. Finishes with round tannins and lingering spice, fruit and an attractive flintiness. Excellent.

Similar to my previous note. Initially savory and smokey but with air, the fruit gained weight and depth. Sad that it’s my last bottle.
