  • This was the lightest of the four in color and power, which was a nice break, actually. A bit of not unpleasant Frenchiness on the nose and some band-aid as well. The palate on this was fresh with an interesting bit of citrus on the finish, with some violets and berries in the middle. This had been opened, but not decanted, 2 1/2 hours before we tasted it.

  • On the nose: Initially there were beef jerky, smoky chocolate notes. After an hour aerating, more fruit aromas came out, such as raspberry, hints of vanilla, jam and some flowery spice.

On the pallete: Noticeably tannins, decent acidity, likely could have aged a bit longer. Decent raspberry, meaty, earthy flavors. Kind of got a tangy honey note at some point.

Overall, complex wine that was enjoyable to analyze. I liked the nose more than the flavor of the wine. A very solid wine and we enjoyed it.

  • Similar to previous tasting notes, lavendar, tabacco, herbs, some dark berry/cherry and a very interesting root beer note that seemed to turn more into chocolate on the finish later in the evening. Fresh and interesting northern Rhone syrah, and at a good price.

  • Herbs and lavendar on the nose with some more earthy notes coming through on the palate.

  • Similar to previous tasting note: cigar smoke, spice, lavendar and blackberry. Earthy balance in the mouth and fresh tasting as the balance leaned toward acid. The fruit came across with a little more body this time. Still a strong black pepper finish (that went well this time with braciola and spagetti with red sauce).
