  Opened and served right away. Dark red in colour with some bricking at the rim. Developing dark fruit nose with black liquorice and tobacco. Entry is concentrated with flavours of dark plums, blackcurrants and cedar spice but the mid palate seems to lack that same concentration and finish is somewhat short. There are hints of dried prunes on both the nose and palate. The wine is enjoyable but doesn’t have the full mouth feel and intensity of flavours that I would expect. Medium acidity and softer tannins. The nose is very nice on this but the palate isn't on the same level. Still a nice wine but I don’t think this is going to get any better. Good.

  Surprisingly very Bordeaux like (left bank) for an 03, with lots of graphite and cassis notes that was a somewhat closed wine that was not fruit forward or lush like many of the vintage. Good acidity on a medium frame and a 25 second finish with lots of smooth tannins. Was decanted for 45 minutes and drank over the next two hours and never changed character much. Will probably continue to improve as the tannins could use more age. Nice wine at $18.
