A tidal wave of Eucalyptus upon opening. After an hour or so, it started to blow off and settle in with the black and red fruits and sweet Oak emerging. Very smooth. If you dislike the mint of Eucalyptus in anything but minimalist secondary elements, this is not your wine.

Blast of blueberry followed with a mellow band of mocha, leather, and chewy tannin. Really enjoyable wine. Polished, opulent and rich. But not overly done, well balanced. Needed a couple of hours to open up and was a great wine, unfortunately it was after the 2005 Montrose which was spectacular. But this is a very good bottle of wine

Nose of scorched earth and mint with a tinge of heat. Red fruit with sweet cherry overtones. The tannins are very soft. Smooth finish with spearmint dominating.
This wine is drinking very well and showing no signs of peaking.

Seems at its peak. Nice example of a warm climate syrah.
