Did not decant. I will not score as I believe there was something wrong with this bottle due to an unusual tawny and menthol combo on the nose and tawny taste.

Was fairly closed off straight out of the bottle, but opened up quickly. I agree with the wine makers on the flavor profile. Bright cherry, minerals, spice and earthiness. Mild but pleasant tannin, good acidity, lengthy finish focusing on the spice notes. The westphall vineyard seems to put out a less jammy slightly lighter zin.

Coravin taste side by side with a '13 Wine Guerrilla Sonoma County Zin opened the day before. Initially the nose showed no fruit - just earthiness, maybe forest floor. The palate also initially showed little to no fruit, but gradually opened up to acidic raspberry with maybe black tea and flint. Definitely more complex with a longer finish than the less expensive and simpler WG offering. Fruitier as time went by, though getting another Coravin taste re-started the clock. Better with food. Young. needs time to open.
