Gourmet Dinner #3- Bacon Bowl (Anwar and Trigirls Home on Super Bowl Sunday): Anwar opened this with the creme fraiche and bacon bit dip. 2nd time I have had this wine. Last time was in 2004 with a similar score. Full bodied with notes of liquid smoke, spice and lavender. Not my favorite style of white wine. 86 points.

Notes of waxy fruit with a disturbing funky, weedy/rotten veggie aroma. Tasted better than it smells though, with nice fruit and that great weighty/oily texture.

Pale yellow-green color. The nose has really developed on this wine, showing lemon zest, minerals and lanolin. The palate has a waxy texture that is quite compelling, and shows more lemon, minerals and even a bit of sherry-like almond and warmth on the very long finish. This was a pleasant surprise compared to the bottle I had a couple years ago. I'm guessing this may continue to improve over the next few years, but is in a nice drinking window now.

This had a fruitier nose than the Alban Roussanne and I found it to be the smoother and more drinkable of the 2. 13.8% alcohol. Light to medium bodied. Some light oak, petrol, creamy white fruit and vanilla notes. 87-88 points.
