This is a powerful one! Full of ripe red berries like raspberry, blackberry, and cherry. It has a bit of a peppery edge and long finish. Tannin is medium and solid structure with medium dryness. Good with sausage or grilled meats.

Has definitely lost a step. Nevertheless, it's still a nice, restrained zinfandel with mouthfilling fruit and no raisiny or port-like characteristics. Finish is better than I remembered. Drink up.

Almost two years ago, DJS wrote "drink soon". I had tried one before then and had given it an 88. If anything, it has improved slightly since then. Although it does seem to be either at or just past its peak, I suspect that the screw-top closure has retarded its decline. Oh yeah, about the wine: berries and bramble on both nose and palate. BIG fruit on the palate, but only a so-so finish. An 88 or 89 point wine, but it set me back only $15 and change. Rating based on QPR would be more like 98 or 99.

No mistaking this for anything else. Bramble and berries. Richer and fuller bodied than I had expected, with a good finish. Slightly sweet, but not overly so. Set me back only $15/bottle, and it's way better than "grocery store" zins that go for only $2 or $3 less (at least in Ohio). Probably better in another couple years.
