  • Wow wine. Really unique. Agree with most of L'Enfant Sauvage's notes below. Really screaming acid/sour when first opened, needs some air. Nose has some really tart white fruits, nutty oxidative notes. Strong acid, but is balanced nicely with the lightly sweet fruit, some nutty components, and long, long finish. Very enjoyable, especially when you like the lightly oxidative Jura style.

  • Opened with the Crimmi in Maplewood.

Pinot Auxerrois, l'Enfariné, Savagnin Vert - what the what??? Doesn't matter though, this is really f'ing good, and, as you might imagine, like very little else you have ever tasted. Fresh but with oxidative tendencies. Some high-toned yellow fruit that isn't quite citrus or stone, maybe starfruit if you want a bs descriptor. Nutty (on the bitter almond/cyanide side) and sour (I think more sour than bitter). Gulpable, complex, strange, delicious. Started closed, but really blossomed with air. Last sip was the best, so I'd probably decant in the future (if it wouldn't make me look like a pompous ass at someone else's house).

  • Reduction blows off to give way to a warm agrume / citrus character, a little towards apples and beurre salé, and a spicy herbal (parsley) note. Noix comes with time, it is more marked when tasted with fresh noix. Signature mouthfeel, stacked with phenols, slightly viscous but fresh with a hint of bitterness. Dry on the finish from the extract but suggestions of RS. Everything is in check, pretty good balance. A wine to drink for the pleasure of drinking.

  • SLDS June 2016: Pineapple, honey and grape. Palate is spritzy, with a little bit of an up and down profile. Medium length and somewhat interesting but probably not one that I overly enjoyed.

  • A multi-regional blend of Auxerrois from Alsace, Enfariné and Savagnin Vert from Jura.

Slightly hazy lime green color. Somewhat restrained and fine-tuned but also nicely distinctive and quite fun nose with cool aromas of fresh yellow fruits, steely minerality, some white peach, light sappy tones and a hint of waxy funk. The wine is light-bodied, leesy and slightly sharp on the palate with flavors of ripe red apples, some steely minerality, a little bit of tangy key lime, light rubbery notes of reduction and a hint of cidery funk. The wine is moderately high in acidity. The finish is long, crisp and quite tangy with flavors of sappy green herbs, ripe golden apples, some saline mineral tones, a little bit of buttery richness, a hint of ripe citrus fruits and a touch of waxy funk.

A nice, refreshing and slightly wild little white with surprisingly pure and clean overall character despite its obviously natural and slightly funky edge. Tasty and versatile, although nothing too complex. A fresh little everyday white, perhaps a bit pricey for the style at 22€ but not forbiddingly so.
