Asking myself "what would it take to move the score of this wine up?" Answer: A little more fruit forward (still very good - see previous notes), a little more mellow with a slightly longer finish. No, this is a very nice wine that I enjoy drinking (getting near the bottom of my supply), so will wait another 2 years, at least, for another bottle.

Had as a pop and pour. The first sips were Jolly Rancher cherry! Then it mellowed out to a smooth collection of black and red fruits. This remains very smooth and easy drinking, with soft tannins.

Comprised entirely of Cabernet Franc that saw lots of new French oak during élevage, this wine has understandably required a few years to sort itself out. Vinturi-decanted and consumed over three hours, it unfurls a beautiful aromatic profile of black currants, dark plums, roasted herbs, licorice, allspice and dill. Full-bodied and impressively fresh, it delivers flavors in line with the aromas and throws no heat from its 14.8% alcohol when served at 60-65°F. At this stage in the wine's evolution, the tannins (although still quite plentiful) have softened and the oak has assimilated, making the dense mid-palate and lengthy finish fairly smooth in texture. Early in its drinking window, this is a terrific red that has the structure to age gracefully. Decantation for aeration is advisable at this point, allowing a couple of hours in decanter if possible. Drink now-2038.

From magnum - soft and smooth - very nice. Compared favorably to a 2010 Burnellol with sugo of rigatoni and turkey meatballs.
