First sip after decanting for about 2.5 hours was disappointing. A little overly ripe and tannic, not a whole lot of complexity. Improved over the course of the evening. About 5 hours after opening the wine really started to sing. More floral, open, balanced in presentation. Probably best in 5-7 years.

Big wine, dark fruits of blackberry, currants, plum, initially seemed over ripe, but improved steadily through dinner, well integrated tannins, long, lingering finish, preferred by most at dinner to the more elegant, subtle Sassicaia 2008.
