Opened a bit dull, but woke up with air. Pours dark red, great clarity. Nose of blackberries and something spicy cloves, perhaps). Great length of fruit on the palate, plums and blackberry, with a touch of graphite.

Still very primary for a 9 year old wine. Blackberry, blueberries, violets. Beautifully structured with wonderful tannin & acidity. Will benefit from more time in the cellar. Would recommend a decant given there was a bit of sediment. A joy to drink. 94+

NobleRottersSydney - blind 17 Chard & 14 Shiraz (Fix, St James, Sydney): {screwcap, 14%} Rich and chocolatey, laced with blueberry fruit that stays short of over-ripe. Nicely balanced palate, medium/full in weight, with subtle acid and dusty tannins. Medium length finish with a nicely sour edge. Proper sort of wine with plenty of time left. I guessed Barossa. Decantered 2-5hours. Very dark in appearance. Black fruit, touch of plum and pepper. Way too young. Hold for 3-5 years. Ok now, expect improvement. 92-94

Quick tasting next to 2016. This in a much more savoury, lean and tannic space. My preferred vintage by a good margin this tasting. If drinking now, give heaps of air or wait another 5 years.
